Meanwhile, Joe Meek and Decca were exploiting the visuals of the satellite to promote the Tornados' hit.

In 1962, Bell Labs produced a promotional film extolling the role of Telstar in bringing a new era of global understanding and communication into being-- with America leading, of course.

​Jump forward to 24:22 to see the opening shot of the American flag-- Bell Labs didn't bother to include the cattle drive or the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but at 25:55, President Kennedy appears and makes his statement that Telstar is "another indication of the extraordinary world in which we live... this operation, developed by private industry, launched by government,  in admirable cooperation.
